If the Internet becomes a public utility, you’ll pay more. Here’s why.

when your country is telling you no

Obama –  instead of banning are freedom, rights and taking our money, why don’t you just try leaving us the hell alone & see how that works out?

Obama’s Federal Communications Commission is in the middle of a high-stakes decision that could raise taxes for close to 90 percent of Americans. The commission is considering whether to reclassify broadband as a telecommunications service and, in doing so, Washington would trigger new taxes and fees at the state and local level.

The agency would like to make Internet service a public utility, placing broadband under Title II regulation of the Communications Act of 1934. This move would make broadband subject to New Deal-era regulation, and have significant consequences for U.S. taxpayers.

Under this decision to reclassify broadband, Americans would face a host of new state and local taxes and fees that apply to public utilities. These new levies, according to the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI), would total $15 billion annually. On average, consumers would pay an additional $67 for landline broadband, and $72 for mobile broadband each year, according to PPI’s calculations, with charges varying from state to state.

Proponents of broadband reclassification, including the left-of-center organization Free Press, claim that it would not result in higher taxes or fees. The recently extended Internet Tax Freedom Act, they assert, prohibits state and local taxation of Internet service. This is incorrect, however. The act does not apply to telecom-related fees.

Free Press and other broadband reclassification proponents also say the new taxes and fees can be prevented if the FCC designates broadband as an interstate service. A Progressive Policy Institute report explains why this also is incorrect:

“When the Commission previously considered the jurisdiction of Internet traffic, it determined that such traffic was ‘largely interstate,’ but ‘jurisdictionally mixed.’ States routinely tax jurisdictionally mixed services that are classified as ‘interstate’ for purposes of regulation. For example, wireless services may not be regulated by state public utility commissions, but they are subject to a host of state and local taxes and fees. In several states, interstate wireless revenues are subject to taxation.”

Late last year, President Barack Obama waded into this contentious debate. He called for the Internet to be treated like a public utility. Critics of Obama’s position point out this would reduce investment in infrastructure and lead to inferior service for consumers. Reclassifying broadband as a telecommunications service would also stifle innovation and restrict the openness of the Internet.

obama silly Change???

The telecommunications industry has invested more than $1.2 trillion on broadband infrastructure since 1996. As a result, roughly 87 percent of Americans have access to broadband. It would be foolish for government to discourage the significant investment required to maintain, expand and improve this infrastructure by subjecting broadband to circa 1930s regulation. Subjecting Internet service providers to such onerous rules would depress innovation and penalize Web users.

Not only would higher taxes and fees leave individuals, families, and employers with less disposable income, a wealth of research indicates it would be bad for the economy.

John Hood, former president of the John Locke Foundation, found that keeping state and local tax and regulatory burdens as low as possible fosters economic growth, when he analyzed 681 peer-reviewed academic journal articles going back to 1990.

“Most studies find,” Hood stated, “that lower levels of taxes and spending, less-intrusive regulation…correlate with stronger economic performance.”

Tax Foundation economist William McBride reviewed academic literature going back three decades and found, “While there are a variety of methods and data sources, the results consistently point to significant negative effects of taxes on economic growth even after controlling for various other factors such as government spending, business cycle conditions and monetary policy.”

In McBride’s survey of 26 studies, dating to 1983, he found “all but three of those studies, and every study in the last 15 years, find a negative effect of taxes on growth.”

The Federal Communications Commission is expected to make its decision early this year. After the more than 20 tax increases signed into law during Obama’s six years in office, the last thing American taxpayers need is a gusher of new taxes and fees triggered by bureaucrats in Washington.

Created by Executive Fiat – a new “Obama Fund” Dump all you “savings” into government debt

First ObamaCare and now Obama Fund

large group we wont take it any more Seniors Hit Hard by Financial Crisis

Treasury rolls out a new savings plan without a Congressional vote

Hey, kids. Uncle Sam has a new investment offer for you. Even if you have several decades of productive work ahead—and thus a long investing time horizon—the White House wants you to consider a retirement plan that will invest in nothing but U.S. government debt.

Any financial professional who advised a young investor to avoid stocks and corporate bonds—and everything else except Treasury bonds—would be sued for malpractice. But asset allocation is merely one of the problems with the new “myRA” fund rolling out from the Treasury this month.

Seniors got screwed by the housing bubble Crash. then by the phony Fed Reserve 0% fund and now the Treasury rolls out a new savings plan called ‘Obama Fund’…

Collapsing home prices, tight credit, dwindling investment income a lethal brew.

12006104-dejected-entrepreneurCollapsing real estate values and an imploding Wall Street are making life uncertain for everyone, but seniors are being hit especially hard. The economic upheaval has shattered many seniors’ retirement plans and, even worse, has cut into the income of many of those who have already retired and has sharply reduced the value of most seniors’ primary asset — their home. Lenders are cutting seniors no slack, as a growing list of complaints to ConsumerAffairs.com illustrates.

U.S. households lost billions in interest income during the Fed’s near-zero interest rate experiment. Because they are often reliant on income from savings, seniors were hit the hardest. Households headed by seniors 65-74 years old lost on average $1,900 in annual income over the past six years, according to a November 2013 McKinsey Global Institute report. For households headed by seniors 75 and older, the loss was $2,700 annually.

With a median income for senior households in the U.S. of roughly $25,000, these are significant losses. In total, according to my company’s calculations, approximately $58 billion in annual income has been lost by America’s seniors since 2008.

Retirees depend on income from their savings for basic living expenses. Without that income, many seniors have taken on greater risk to increase the yield on their savings, or simply spent down their nest eggs. After decades of playing by the rules, putting off spending and socking away money, seniors have taken it on the chin. This strikes a blow at the core American principles of self-reliance, individual responsibility and fairness.

Lost everything when my business failed and now, at 63, working two part time jobs and getting $563 a month in early retirement pay,” said Elwood of Sinking Spring, Pa., who also supports two family members.

Elwood’s situation became desperate when he was unable to complete a “short sale” of his home. In a short sale, the buyer pays less than the remaining amount on the seller’s mortgage. In some cases, lenders will forgive some or all of the difference but lately, banks have been squeezing consumers for every last cent.

Elwood said he found a buyer for his home but Chase Mortgage rejected the deal and began foreclosure proceedings.

The Forgotten Ones

The Forgotten Ones

With the Fed’s near-zero policy, households headed by someone 75 or older have lost $2,700 annually in interest income.

REMEMBER, the DEMOCRATS took over COMPLETE CONTROL OF FEDERAL SPENDING, at the end of 2006, and had control of BOTH HOUSES through October 2010. McClatchy-Marist Poll: American dream seen as out of reach

US NEWS BLACKFRIDAY 8 LA

WASHINGTON — Racing into a new century in which many of the old rules don’t seem to apply anymore, Americans are overwhelmingly pessimistic about their chances of achieving and sustaining the American dream, according to a new Marist-McClatchy Poll.
They see an economic system in which they have to work harder than ever to get ahead, and a political system that’s unresponsive to their needs.

Eight out of 10 Americans think it’s harder now than before, taking more effort to get ahead than it did for previous generations. Just 15 percent think it takes the same work as it did before, and a scant 5 percent think it’s easier now.

And Americans don’t think it will get better soon, with 78 percent thinking it also will be harder for the next generation to get ahead.

The findings underscore the landscape at a time when the economy and the country are being fundamentally changed by waves of globalization and new technology, and as Americans struggle to see a better path forward and their politicians grapple over how to help.

President Barack Obama speaks frequently about pushes for a higher minimum wage and health care subsidies, as well as programs to help people find new skills, at the same time he pushes free trade, which is to blame for an exodus of jobs to lower-paying foreign factories.
Looking at work, Americans think by 75-22 percent that U.S. corporations make stockholders their top priority, over their employees.

Looking at their own lives, most people consider themselves middle class. Eighty-six percent of those polled identified themselves that way, with 14 percent calling themselves upper middle class, 50 percent saying middle class and 22 percent saying lower middle class.

Most think the middle class is hurt most by government policies. Fifty-five percent think the middle class is most likely to be left behind by those actions, while another 40 percent said the poor would be hurt the most.

The findings come as the nation and the federal government struggle with Obama”s Ideology of Redistribution from the Middleclass to third world countries.

Officially, the deep recession that began in December 2007 has been over since mid-2009,  smiley-laughing001

Seventy-two percent of those who earn less than $50,000 a year felt that way, and 66 percent of those who earn more agreed. So did 63 percent of 18- to 29-year olds, and 71 percent of those 60 and older.

 obama’s economy:

What’s happening here?

“To fix the unemployment rate, a government basically has two big options: create jobs, or change the definition of what unemployment is.

What did our government do?
You guessed it. They changed the way unemployment rate is calculated…and redefined unemployment as “number of Americans receiving unemployment benefits”.Stopped receiving benefits?

It doesn’t matter that you haven’t had a job since Clinton..in the state’s eyes, you’re NOT unemployed. But when you use way the government calculated unemployment rates before the 1990s, the shocking rate is 24%… far more than during the Great Depression.
There are more than 101 million working-aged Americans unemployed. That’s the entire population of Texas, California, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania the 6 most populous states here in the US – combined.

People who cannot contribute to the economy, who don’t have enough money to buy goods, and who, in a crisis, will probably be the first ones to flood the streets.
Count the rest of the population who is either too young or too old to work…and you’ll be shocked to discover that

This means that the average American worker has to carry 4 people on his back and even this number is bound to grow.”
The average American family makes $51,017 a year and $8,500 of it…or 17% goes to healthcare.
According to data from the U.S. Government’s very own healthcare reporting bureau, healthcare costs will almost double under Obamacare.

1988 Spending Per Family $2,000

2013 $8,500 Healthcare Spending Per Family

2014 Healthcare Spending Per Family $15,950

But under Obamacare, costs will double according to data from the U.S. Government’s very own healthcare reporting bureau.

But here’s the kicker:
According to Foxnews, 76% of American families ALREADY live paycheck to paycheck. For them, adding even $100 to monthly costs would be disastrous.
Under Obamacare, yearly costs would go up an aditional $7450!

The government gets its funding from working class taxpayers but when those who pay taxes can’t even pay their own bills the government will collapse under its own weight.

The government will collapse under its own weight. The government also won’t be able to get money it needs from taxing businesses because 90% of all companies in the US are dependent on selling goods to the working class.

And when the backbone of the US economy vanishes into thin air you’ll see the greatest string of corporate bankruptcies in the United States.

As banks close down, your life savings will evaporate. But the most dangerous part of this is that this collapse will happen out of the blue and many Americans will be caught unaware. In a day or two…they’ll realize the serious implications.

Obama and Democrats in Congress, actually want food prices to rise

obama-immeltWhat is happening today, however, is unique: this is the first time in American history when an administration is deliberately forcing food prices higher in order to increase dependency and extend government control over the economy.

There is hardship ahead even for those not dependent on government aid. Despite our nation’s vast agricultural resources, Americans are not immune to the kinds of food shortages that have existed throughout human history and that continue to exist in developing countries today. It takes only a short time for a nation to slip from abundance into impoverishment.

A century ago Romania, with its productive agricultural sector, was among the richest countries in Europe. The abundant harvests that had once fed Romania’s people were commandeered by the government and shipped abroad to bankroll the extravagant lifestyle of the rulers and to fund the state security apparatus necessary to defend it. This and fundamental mismanagement resulted in decades of hunger for the Romanian people.

For America the combination of corn ethanol mandates and a weak-dollar policy is, in effect, a “Romania-style” seizure of the nation’s food supply. The left is intent on gaining control of America’s natural resources — its agricultural and energy sectors, in particular — and for exactly the same reason they were seized in communist states such as Romania. The control of food and energy is the means by which the left hopes to gain permanent power over the American people.

America is approaching a future in which food will be expensive and in short supply. The combination of an ever expanding corn ethanol program and the demands of a tighter global market will make food less affordable and less available.

27421988-sad-children-hugging-his-motherWhat may not be so obvious is that the American left, led by Obama and Democrats in Congress, actually want food prices to rise, just as they want energy prices to rise, (see update on oil below)so as to create further dependency. If they did not, they would take simple measures to lower prices: eliminate ethanol mandates, eliminate protective tariffs, strengthen the dollar, and allow the free market to govern prices. But none of this will happen with the left in charge because high prices and shortages serve the interest of a party intent on centralized control of the economy.

This disaster can only be averted by the defeat of Obama and of the Democrat-controlled Senate , and by the removal of leftists from government agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency, Health and Human Services, and the Department of Agriculture. Above all, the nation must return to a free-market economy in which prices for food and all else are determined by supply and demand, not by the ambitions of leftists in Washington.

Food prices have been steadily rising under Obama. The price of a pound of potatoes has gone up by a third, the price of a gallon of milk has increased by a fifth and the price of a 5lb bag of flour has gone up by a dollar.

Bacon was at $3.60 a lb under Bush. It’s now up to $5.60 a lb under Obama. The price of a whole frozen Thanksgiving turkey was at $1.32 a lb under Bush. It’s up to $1.81 under Obama giving Americans that much less to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

groceriesThe price of a tub of margarine went up from $1.50 to $2.10. But that won’t be a problem for long because thanks to Obama it may soon become hard to get margarine at any price.

Obama’s FDA is considering a ban on trans fat in foods. Like incandescent bulbs and cheap free market health insurance, margarine may become one of those things that you can no longer buy anymore.

It will also mean that many other foods will either be banned, become more expensive or taste worse.

The FDA had already mandated trans fat labeling on products. The new ban would not protect anyone; instead it would take away the right of Americans to choose what they eat. Under the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906, the FDA was created to prevent “the manufacture, sale, or transportation of adulterated or misbranded or poisonous or deleterious foods, drugs, medicines, and liquors.” Its claim that trans fat in foods make them adulterated is a deliberate misinterpretation of its powers.

The FDA’s food policing powers do not give it the right to ban unhealthy foods. If they did, the FDA could outlaw every kind of junk food. And it has begun doing that with its argument that trans fats are unsafe because they are unhealthy; building up plaque in arteries and increasing the risk of heart attacks.

Here’s a short list of foods that build up plaque in arteries and increase the risk of heart attacks.

Milk, butter, cheese, ice cream, hot dogs, salami, French fries and eggs. The FDA has given itself the authority to ban everything from a glass of milk to a carton of eggs. And that’s not an exaggeration.

Last year a new study came out whose author claimed that eating eggs was as bad for the heart as smoking cigarettes, compared the egg industry to the tobacco industry and was followed by suggestions that egg cartons should carry health warnings like tobacco cartons.

Every time you see another one of those contradictory health warning stories, imagine that they can lead to a ban on everything from wine to chocolate to eggs

Patrick Smith wrote of – Obama’s unabated childish desire to ruin Putin and Russia’s economy . And my thought perhaps kill oil production in the U.S for Obama’s Greenies. Kerry told the Saudis 1) to raise production and 2) to cut its crude price. Keep in mind these pertinent numbers: The Saudis produce a barrel of oil for less than $30 as break-even in the national budget; the Russians need apx $105.

Shortly after Kerry’s visit, the Saudis began increasing production, sure enough — by more than 100,000 barrels daily Other OPEC members are screaming for relief, and the Saudis make back-to-back moves certain to push falling prices still lower?

The costs of all this “hope and change” are landing squarely on the back of the middle class

The costs of all this “hope and change” are landing squarely on the back of the middle class.

what happened to land of the freeWe mustn’t get caught up in his oratory or his populist rhetorical appeals. We must instead look at the fruits of his first four years of labor, which are decimating to the middle class.

Obama during winter meeting of the Democratic National Committee in WashingtonThe average 16% real rate of unemployment and underemployment, based on the Department of Labor’s U-6 report, during Obama’s first three years in office has been devastating to the middle class. With over 15 million people not working (28 million according to the Wall Street Journal based on the U-6 data), there are that many fewer middle class taxpayers and consumers (and that many more on government assistance at the poverty level relying on income redistribution from producers.)

The job situation will not improve appreciably until the cost of doing business starts dropping. Last year, the Small Business Administration reported that regulation costs American business $1.75 trillion per year and costs small businesses as much as $10,585 per employee. Just the costs of Obamacare, Financial Regulatory Reform, and new EPA regulations are projected to increase that cost per employee by more than 30%, according to Investor’s Business Daily.

The federal budget has grown from $2.5 trillion to $3.8 trillion, a 40% increase, and our yearly deficit has quintupled from $240 billion per year to $1.3 trillion per year. Our debt-to-GDP ratio, a significant barometer of the fiscal health of a nation, has spiked to over 100%, a nearly 30% increase in just three years. The middle class will pay the costs of this government expansion. Even if Obama increases the taxes on “the rich” as he desires, the most it will raise is $65 billion, hardly scratching the surface of the deficit.

High energy prices hit the middle class harder than anyone, and the Recent Bureau of Labor Statistics report on consumer prices shows that gasoline costs are up 130% since Obama’s election. Obama’s assault on domestic oil production and his weak dollar policy have contributed to an equivalent 130% tax increase on transportation costs.

And that’s not the only energy cost that’s increased. As a result of the administration’s assault on the coal industry, coal-fired power production has dropped from 44.6 to 36% in just one year. Coal is a cheap source of energy, and moving away from it will dramatically increase the cost of electricity.

PJM Interconnection, the company that operates the electric grid for 13 Eastern and Midwestern states, indicates the new market-clearing price for projected 2015 capacity just cleared $136 per megawatt. That’s over eight times higher than the price for 2012, which was just $16. When these skyrocketing energy costs hit the middle class, it will be devastating.

ObamaCare was promised to lower the cost of health care for nearly everyone. Instead, private medical insurance costs have soared by as much as 59%, and hospital costs are up nearly three times the rate of core inflation. These costs adversely affect the middle class disproportionately, as the rich have no problem paying and the middle class is paying the cost of the lower income levels.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported just last month that the U.S. average weekly wage declined nearly 2% percent between the fourth quarter of 2010 and the fourth quarter of 2011. This is only the fifth time wages have declined in the past 33 years.

Succinctly stated, we have shrinking income, inflation in energy and food “skyrocketing” (just like Obama predicted four years ago), a weaker dollar, a ballooning debt, and a national security-risking deficit. The costs of all this “hope and change” are landing squarely on the back of the middle class.

A strong middle class equals a strong America. We can’t have one without the other. And our current policies are killing both. So don’t listen to Obama’s rhetoric; for it rings hollow. Look at his actions and his policies (and what has been done to cripple the middle class.) It truly leaves one wondering how he can pander as he does to the middle class and keep a straight face while doing nothing for them. To bring in Marxism, socialism, communism or whatever you want to call his agenda. Obama knows he must destroy the middle class. The backbone of our country.

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.

Barack Obama, Colorado campaign speech, July 2008

When things collapse (and it won’t be long), can there be any question that the resulting disorder will be catastrophic? Imagine an energy or monetary crisis so severe that trucks cannot deliver food. Imagine stores stripped bare.

Barack Obama is out of control. Even though he says “I am not a dictator,” it’s clear he is working to become one since he hates Congress and threatens the Supreme Court. He would rather have a free hand, something he is achieving.

Bottom line: Either we throw a net over this bugger; or he will destroy our country, vaporize our liberty, and confiscate our property.

US-POLITICS-OBAMA-GOLF

The outrage known as ObamaCare should have been sufficient cause for rebellion.

By corrupt means, he rammed this atrocity through against the will of the majority; and now, we have Sen. Orin Hatch claiming it was purposefully designed to fail so as to make way for complete government takeover.
. . . within the immediate future the Democrats are going to throw their hands in the air and say, ‘It’s not working. It’s unaffordable. And we have to go to a single-payer system,’”Hatch said, adding, “. where the government controls everybody’s lives.

All of this thoroughly trashes our Constitution, ushering in an age of despotism we once thought of as impossible in America.

The Poser is purposefully destroying our economy. You have to be blind not to see it. He is selling us down the river to our enemies. You have to be deaf not to hear the war drums. He is destroying our liberty by centralizing control in the executive branch. You have to be dumb not to perceive it.

The clearest signal of all: the combined efforts to disarm American citizens and the massive weapons build-up within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

DHS does not have war powers. With whom are they preparing to fight? We’ll give you one guess. Take the Los Angeles riots (or better, the riots in the 60s) and multiply them many fold, nationally.

Ask yourself: Why does DHS need billions of rounds of ammunition, much of it hollow point? Hollow point rounds are specifically designed to blow giant holes in people, not to wound but to kill.

Why does DHS needs thousands upon thousands of assault rifles, the very rifles the Poser wants to ban generally?

Why does DHS need 3,000 armor-plated troop carriers, detention camps, and ready-made plastic coffins by the thousands?

And why does DHS refuse to answer any of these questions?

a recent editorial in Investor’s Business Daily reminds us of an important attitude articulated in a written report by the head of DHS in 2009, targeting conservatives and the unemployed. The report was titled: “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.””The economic downturn and the election of the first African American president present unique drivers for right-wing radicalization and recruitment,” we were warned.

This IBD editorial provides even more alarming evidence citizens must consider very seriously, for we can no longer be accommodating or patient.

Who is there to enforce the rule of law, a Supreme Court ruling or the Constitution? NO ONE?

undocumented democrats

The 2012 election has often been described as the most pivotal since 1860. This statement is not hyperbole. Barack Obama was re-elected and the United States will never be the same, nor will it be able to re-capture its once lofty status as the most dominant nation in the history of mankind.

The overwhelming majority of Americans do not understand that Obama’s first term was dedicated to putting in place executive power to enable him and the administration to fulfill the campaign promise of “transforming America” in his second term regardless of which political party controls Congress.

The most significant accomplishment of Obama’s first term is to make Congress irrelevant. Under the myopic and blindly loyal leadership of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats have succeeded in creating an imperial and, in a second term, a potential dictatorial presidency

During the first two years of the Obama administration when the Democrats overwhelming controlled both Houses of Congress and the media was in an Obama worshipping stupor, a myriad of laws were passed and actions taken which transferred virtually unlimited power to the executive branch.

The birth of multi-thousand page laws was not an aberration. This tactic was adopted so the bureaucracy controlled by Obama appointees would have sole discretion in interpreting vaguely written laws and enforcing thousands of pages of regulations they and not Congress would subsequently write.

obama-immelt

For example, in the 2,700 pages of ObamaCare there are more than 2,500 references to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. There are more than 700 instances when he or she is instructed that they “shall” do something and more than 200 times when they “may” take at their sole discretion some form of regulatory action. On 139 occasions, the law mentions that the “Secretary determines.” In essence one person, appointed by and reporting to the president, will be in charge of the health care of 310 million Americans once ObamaCare is fully operational.

The same is true in the 2,319 pages of the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Act which confers nearly unlimited power on various agencies to control by fiat the nation’s financial, banking and investment sectors. The bill also creates new agencies, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, not subject to any oversight by Congress. This overall process was repeated numerous times with other legislation all with the intent of granting unfettered power to the executive branch controlled by Barack Obama and his radical associates.

Additionally, the Obama administration has, through its unilaterally determined rule making and regulatory powers, created laws out of whole cloth. The Environmental Protection Agency on a near daily basis issues new regulations clearly out of their purview in order to modify and change environmental laws previously passed and to impose a radical green agenda never approved by Congress. The same is true of the Energy and Interior Departments among many others.

None of these extra-constitutional actions have been challenged by Congress. The left in America knows this usurpation of power is nearly impossible to reverse unless stopped in its early stages.

It is clearly the mindset of this administration and its appointees that Congress is merely a nuisance and can be ignored after they were able to take full advantage of the useful idiots in the Democrat controlled House and Senate in 2009-2010 and the Democrat Senate in the current Congress.

Additionally, Barack Obama knows his re-election a Republican controlled House and Senate will not be able to enact any legislation to roll back the power previously granted to the Executive Branch or usurped by them. His veto will not be overridden as there will always be at least 145 Democratic members of the House or 34 in the Senate in agreement with or intimidated by an administration more than willing to use Chicago style political tactics.

The stalemate between the Executive and Legislative Branches will inure to the benefit of Barack Obama and his fellow leftists.

The most significant power Congress has is the control of the purse-strings as all spending must be approved by them. However, Barack Obama, as confirmed by his willingness to do or say anything and his unscrupulous tactics, has not only threaten government shutdowns but would deliberately withhold payments to those dependent on government support as a means of intimidating and forcing a Republican controlled Congress to surrender to his demands, thus neutering their ability to control the administration through spending constraints.

Further, this administration has shown contempt for the courts by ignoring various court orders, e.g. the Gulf of Mexico oil drilling moratorium, as well as stonewalling subpoenas and requests issued by Congress. The Eric Holder Justice Department has become the epitome of corruption as part of the most dishonest and deceitful administration in American history. The arrogance of Barack Obama and his minions have become more blatant as he does not have to be concerned with re-election.

Who is there to enforce the rule of law, a Supreme Court ruling or the Constitution? No one. Barack Obama and his fellow-travelers are unchallenged as they run roughshod over the American people.

The nation is not dealing with a person of character and integrity but someone of single-minded purpose and overwhelming narcissism. Judging by his actions, words and deeds he does not intend to work with Congress either Republican or Democrat but rather to force his radical agenda on the American people through the power he has usurped or been granted.

The governmental structure of the United States was set up by the founders in the hope that over the years only those people of high moral character and integrity would assume the reins of power. However, knowing that was not always possible, they dispersed power over three distinct and independent branches as a check on each other.

Founders-miss_us_yet

What they could not imagine is the surrender and abdication of its constitutional duty by the preeminent governmental branch, the Congress, to a chief executive devoid of any character or integrity coupled with a judiciary essentially powerless to enforce the law when the chief executive ignores them.

Conservatives, Libertarians, and the Republican Party must come to grips with this moment in time and their historical role in denying Barack Obama and his minions their ultimate goal. All resources must be directed at that end-game and not merely controlling Congress and the various committee chairmanships.

2009-The Great Obama “Job Stimulus” Robbery Made Easy

“Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.”

Thus spoketh White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel in November, as Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats made preparations for robbing the American people under the guise of a “job stimulus package.”

In point of fact, the 850 page, $825 billion House legislation is anything but a job stimulus.” 85% of it is a wish list of special interest paybacks and “politically correct” subsidies for pet projects. It was pushed through by Obama being virtually unread by Democrats in Congress.

Almost 40% of it is earmarked to large urban states such as California and New York so they can continue retaining their armies of pampered, highly paid marginally productive government employees. These millions of government workers will continue receiving salary increases, bloated pensions and life long medical benefits that private sector employees can only dream about.

Almost 60 Billion Dollars more is earmarked to reward states for increasing their Welfare Rolls. It negates the 1996 bill that has taken millions off welfare, transforming them into productive citizens. Welfare reform is now a dead issue.

To create the illusion of increasing employment (at a cost of billions to the private sector taxpayer), government payrolls are to be bloated by the hiring of an additional 600,000 federal, state and local civil servants.

Among the “smaller ticket items,” totally unrelated to job creation:

BEGINNING OF LIST:

1. $1 billion for Amtrak

2. $2 billion for child-care subsidies

3. $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts

4. $400 million for global-warming research

5. $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects related to global warming research

An enthusiastic Barack Hussein Obama has said this bill will make “dramatic investments to revive our flagging economy,” but that’s far from true. Some $30 billion, or less than 5% of the spending in the bill, is for fixing bridges or other highway projects.

Special project spending will go to such things as renewable energy funding ($8 billion) or mass transit ($6 billion). The latter is designed to ensure during a time of increasing layoffs in the tax paying private sector, mass transit civil servants (who are paid with private sector taxpayer funds) will continue to receive raises and increases to their bloated pensions and medical benefits. These are municipal Union members, a hard core constituency of Obama and other Democrats.

In New York City, a transit worker assigned to nothing more than sweeping floors, has a starting salary of $49,000.00 per year. They retire a fat pension after 20 years.

6. $600 million more for the federal government to buy new cars

7. $7 billion for modernizing federal buildings and facilities

8. $150 million for the Smithsonian Institute

9. $252 billion in cash benefits for those who pay income taxes or don’t pay income taxes. It’s for those who work or don’t work. It is even available to Illegal Aliens.

10. $81 billion for Medicaid

11. $20 billion for food stamps

12. An additional $83 billion for the earned income credit for people who don’t pay income tax, including Illegal Aliens.

13. $54 billion will go to federal programs that the Office of Management and Budget or the Government Accountability Office have already criticized as “ineffective” or unable to pass basic financial audits.

14. $66 billion will go for “Education,” as a payoff to teachers unions. In this way, the parents of children in their classes might be unemployed, but teachers are insured that no matter what level of competency, their jobs, salary increases, pensions and lifelong medical care is secure. If you think the intention here is to help kids learn, the House declares on page 257 that “No recipient… shall use such funds to provide financial assistance to students to attend private elementary or secondary schools.” This is a way to keep money from going to non-union teachers.

As Speaker Nancy Pelosi put it, “We won the election. We wrote the bill.” And the Republicans might want to stand back and let Barack Hussein Obama and his band of thieves take full credit for the theft and results.

To create the illusion of increasing employment (at a cost of billions to the private sector taxpayer), government payrolls are to be bloated by the hiring of an additional 600,000 federal, state and local civil servants.

The United States of Decline

demagogue

The United States of Decline America unravels at an increasingly dizzying pace.

By Deroy Murdock, a fellow at the Hoover Institution in Stanford University
National Review
Feb. 17, 2014

America is unraveling at a stunning speed and to a staggering degree. This decline is breathtaking, and the prognosis is dim.

For starters, Obama now rules by decree. Reportedly for the 27th time, he has changed the rules of Obamacare singlehandedly, with neither congressional approval nor even ceremonial resolutions to limit his actions. Obama needs no such frivolities.

“That’s the good thing about being president,” Obama joked on February 10. “I can do whatever I want.” In an especially bitter irony, Obama uttered these despicable words while guiding French president François Hollande through Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson — a key architect of America’s foundation of limited government.

That very day, Obama decreed that the Obamacare mandate for employers with 50 to 99 workers would be postponed until 2016 (beyond an earlier extension to 2015), well past the November 2014 midterm elections. This eases the pressure on Democrats, whose campaigns would suffer if voters saw their company health plans canceled due to Obamacare’s unnecessary, expensive, mandatory benefits — e.g. maternity coverage for men.

So, by fiat, Obama has postponed the employer mandate. When Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) effectively tried to do this through legislation last fall, Democrats virtually lassoed and branded him.

Also by decree last week, Obama decided unilaterally to soften political-asylum rules. Refugees and other immigrants who provide terrorists “limited material support” now can come to America. So what if someone merely clothed and fed Mohamed Atta or Khalid Sheikh Mohammed? After all, garments and meals don’t blow up. Welcome to America, Mustafa!

Meanwhile, the Justice Department is working hard to revoke the asylum of and deport the Romeikes. This evangelical-Christian family was granted refuge in America to escape prosecution for homeschooling their children, which German law forbids.

So, Obama believes, those who are only somewhat helpful to deadly, anti-U.S. terrorists may become Americans, while religiously oppressed homeschoolers who face prison should get the hell out.

The transparent electoral motive that fuels so many of Obama’s executive orders seems unprecedented. The tone is also brand new. Obama’s predecessors have signed executive orders and, more or less, left it at that. But Obama pounds his chest as he does so. As he told Congress at last month’s State of the Union address: “America does not stand still — and neither will I. So wherever and whenever I can take steps without legislation to expand opportunity for more American families, that’s what I’m going to do.”

While appalled Republicans sat on their hands, Democrats stood up and shouted like equatorial, rubber-stamp parliamentarians: “Hooray! We are irrelevant!”

Meanwhile, as the American Enterprise Institute’s Marc Thiessen wrote in the February 10 Washington Post, new Congressional Budget Office figures show that Obamacare will reduce U.S. incomes by $70 billion annually between 2017 and 2024. The CBO also estimated that by 2021, Obamacare’s disincentives to hire and incentives not to work would slash labor hours by the equivalent of 2.3 million jobs.

Rather than dispute these figures, key Democrats embraced them.

“We want people to have the freedom to be a writer, to be a photographer, to make music, to paint,” said House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California. She added that “people would no longer be job-locked by their [health] policies, but have the freedom to follow their passion.” smiley-shocked028

So, rather than expand economic growth and jobs, Democrats applaud as Americans stop working — to do watercolors, draft poetry, and take naps — while exhausted taxpayers foot the bill.

Clearly unafraid of Obama, Iranian warships for the first time are steaming toward America’s Atlantic maritime borders. Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps navy commander Ali Fadayi said, “The Americans can sense by all means how their warships will be sunk with 5,000 crews and forces in combat against Iran and how they should find its hulk in the depths of the sea.” Tehran last week also aired fantasy videos of drones blasting a U.S. warship and bombing Tel Aviv. This is how Iran behaves while it negotiates with U.S. diplomats over “peaceful” uranium enrichment?

Nearby, embattled Syrians flee the city of Homs while they and their United Nations protectors dodge incoming mortar shells. This sorry spectacle has exposed Obama’s Syrian policy as a miserable flop. According to GOP senators John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Secretary of State John Kerry privately conceded to them that Obama’s approach in Syria has failed.

America liberated Afghanistan from a regime that hosted al-Qaeda, banned kites and recorded music, and built a bridge to the seventh century. And what thanks does the U.S. get? Over American objections, Afghan president Hamid Karzai last week released 65 Taliban warriors from Bagram prison, where they were being held on suspicion of killing American troops, murdering Afghan civilians, deploying roadside bombs, and otherwise perpetrating mayhem. When U.S. officials complained that these killers could return to the fight — as have other Taliban thugs, once freed — Karzai exploded: “If the Afghan judicial authorities decide to release a prisoner, it is of no concern to the U.S. I hope that the U.S. will stop harassing Afghanistan’s procedures and judicial authority, and I hope the U.S. will now begin to respect Afghan sovereignty.”

For these and many other reasons, Democrats are fleeing Obama.

“I don’t care to have him campaign for me,” said Senator Mark Begich (D., Alaska). (Sure Mark ,until you are voted in for another term and then back to the progressive rubber stamp)

A reelection ad for Representative Joe Garcia (D., Fla.) boasts that “he voted to let you keep your existing health plan, and he took the White House to task for the disastrous healthcare website.” (Another one who will vote with the looters in the white house)

“He [Obama] is hurting the Democratic brand right now,” veteran Democratic campaign strategist Joe Trippi told Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly on February 12. “The Obamacare snafus, his approval rating is declining, and his credibility problems all drag the Democratic brand down.”

(What Brand !!! members are saying?                     We are almost done taking control of every part of government and business so that everyone must agree to do what is best for everyone else. People just need to be re-educated to understand that Socialist policies are for their own good”) jj

Rather than resist an increasingly weak — yet ever more assertive — Obama, GOP congressional leaders hand him whatever he wants. Thus, House speaker John Boehner and Senate GOP chief Mitch McConnell of Kentucky pushed through a $1.012 trillion budget with, at best, minuscule and illusory spending cuts. A $956 billion farm bill includes $3 million to promote Christmas trees (who on Earth would buy them without federal assistance?), $100 million for maple-syrup market research, and $170 million for catfish protectionism. Boehner and McConnell sent Obama this gift-wrapped monstrosity, which was $56 billion higher than Obamacare’s original price tag. And in exchange, Obama gave them . . . zippo!

On February 12, Boehner and McConnell helped send Obama a measure to suspend the debt limit until March 15, 2015. (The debt ceiling was not raised from $17.2 trillion to a higher level; it simply was removed. The gas pedal remains in Obama’s Little Red Cor-debt, but the brakes are gone.) This passed the GOP House with Boehner and only 27 Republicans voting yes. The other 194 votes were from Democrats. When McConnell surrendered on cloture, 11 other Republican senators helped Democrats advance their dirty work. The debt ceiling is now a debt sunroof.

And what did Washington’s top two Republicans get for giving Obama 13 months to shop till America drops? Nothing! No repeal of Obamacare’s $47 billion bailout of health insurers. No approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline. No termination of the cure-killing medical-device tax. No votes on these matters, which would have forced Democrats to choose. This could have helped Republican candidates in November.

Steely resolve could stymie the unpopular and untrustworthy Obama. Sadly, Boehner, McConnell, and other GOP leaders are as firm as foil.

Republicans are giving up because they know that winning is impossible when their leaders are determined to lose,” the Senate Conservatives Fund stated. “These leaders have telegraphed weakness to the Democrats and sabotaged conservative efforts so many times that Republicans now have no leverage.” The group concluded: “John Boehner must be replaced as Speaker of the House. . . . Unless we install a new leader who will actually go on offense, Democrats will never fear us and we will never have any leverage.”

Also, Earth’s sole superpower is sagging where it should be No. 1. America has slouched to No. 12 on the 2014 Heritage Foundation/Wall Street Journal Index of Economic Freedom.

“Now considered only a ‘mostly free’ economy, the U.S. has earned the dubious distinction of having recorded one of the longest sustained declines in economic freedom, second only to Argentina, of any country in the [20-year] history of the Index,” the report states. “The U.S. is the only country to have recorded a loss of economic freedom each of the past seven years.”

Regarding graft, America has stayed stable in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index. Unfortunately, and as recently as 2013, the U.S. has remained Earth’s 19th most honest country.

Thanks, in part, to Team Obama’s surveillance of journalists from Fox News Channel and the Associated Press, America tumbled 13 spots down Reporters Without Borders’ 2014 World Press Freedom Index. The U.S. dropped this year from No. 33 to No. 46. Hence, 45 nations now have freer journalists than does America. RWB calls America “satisfactory” rather than the top-rated “good.” As the report states: “Amid an all-out hunt for leaks and sources, 2013 will also be the year of the Associated Press scandal, which came to light when the Department of Justice acknowledged that it had seized the news agency’s phone records.”

America is a total mess.

The Land of the Free is governed by an out-of-control egomaniac, neither bolstered by managerial competence nor hindered by the legislature’s institutional prerogatives. In the Home of the Brave, half of Congress cheers Obama’s unconstitutional behavior, while the other half grumbles and then meekly carpet-bombs his path with white flags.

The American people have been betrayed — both by Obama and the Democrats, whose lust for control intensifies daily, and by Republican leaders in Washington, whose cowardice and defeatism have turned their guts and spines into tapioca.

America, as Paul Simon sings, is slip-slidin’ away. And the worst part hasn’t happened yet.

‘Why don’t we care more about our people?’

My work here is done

Meet the Press touches on immigration: ‘Why don’t we care more about our people?

On Sunday, January 5th, National Economic Council director Gene Sperling and CNBC’s Mad Money host Jim Cramer briefly touched on immigration on Meet The Press with David Gregory.

Sperling said “….tell me if we were to pass bipartisan immigration reform that would bring in more skilled workers, more STEM workers into our economy, if we were to launch a major effort to create jobs and modernize our infrastructure, of course that would increase the attractiveness of job location in our country.”

The notion that we need to import more foreign workers to keep U.S. jobs here is difficult to defend, particularly when 20 million Americans who want a full-time job can’t find one. What difference does it make to U.S. job seekers if the job they want is filled by a foreign worker domestically or abroad? Either way, they are out of luck.

Only one out of every two graduates with STEM degrees is hired into a STEM job. As the New York Times reported last July, “plenty of potential candidates exist for thousands of positions for which companies want to import guest workers, according to an analysis of three million resumes of job seekers in the United States.”

Cramer didn’t specifically address the oversupply of U.S. STEM workers but his response to Sperling was a perspective in frequently heard on the Sunday morning talk shows:

“David don’t you find it interesting that the dogma is now, post Clinton, pro-immigration at a time when we have a much larger supply of labor than we need and pro-free trade even though we’re supposed to be greenhouse gas oriented. We know where those jobs go. Those jobs leave this country to countries that can pollute all they want. I’ve always wanted to know why the Democrats didn’t say “you know what, we need a defense against the countries that take our jobs and pollute all over.” Well we don’t care about that. What we care about is when workers come to this country from other countries, they get jobs. Why don’t we care more about our people?”

View the exchange here.

View Cramer’s CNBC follow up to his Meet The Press appearance here.Cramer’s charge that the U.S. government cares more about finding jobs for new foreign workers than for unemployed Americans is a serious one, but government data backs him up.From 2000-2013 – a period that saw more immigration than any other time in U.S. history – all of the net employment gains went to immigrant workers. Stronger evidence that putting unemployed Americans back work is a low priority for Washington would be difficult to find.

The question of how mass immigration is impacting American mobility will have to wait for another Sunday show. Gregory avoided Cramer’s question, opting instead to move on to Wall Street, which incidentally profits from mass immigration by way of depressed wages.
