Donald Trump went “On The Record” tonight, where he reacted to ESPN and NASCAR cutting ties with him over his controversial remarks.
“It’s unbelievable,” Trump told Greta Van Susteren. “One was a banquet and one was a golf outing … The whole thing is crazy.”
Trump remarked that “they’ll both be back next year as soon as things blow over.”
“Why are they coming at me? Because I’m against illegal immigration,” Trump stated. “I speak up for the country … I’m totally opposed to it … Frankly, people have given me great credit for talking about it. I brought a subject to light.”
The 2016 GOP presidential candidate said businesses have bailed on him because “they want to be politically correct.”
Van Susteren asked Trump if he will drop out of the race because of the backlash he has received.
“No, I love it. I’m bringing … lots of different elements that are very important,” Trump replied. “We have incompetent leadership, we have leaders that don’t know anything about negotiating, we’re getting killed by China, we’re getting killed by Mexico, we’re getting killed by Japan.”
He added that “we are a bunch of very very foolishly led people.”
“I want to make America great again, that’s more important to me than my company,” Trump stated. “We will never be great if we keep going like this, we will never be great aga
Donald Trump weighed in on “Fox and Friends Weekend” today about an illegal immigrant who allegedly murdered a San Francisco woman.
Police said Kathryn Steinle was shot and killed Wednesday while out for a stroll with her father along the waterfront at Pier 14.
Authorities arrested Francisco Sanchez for Steinle’s murder an hour after the shooting.
According to Fox News, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials revealed that Sanchez, who is Mexican, was previously deported five times.
Trump said that Steinle’s death is “so sad.”
“An incredible young woman shot right in front of her father,” Trump said. “Her father was standing there watching. You can never be the same when a thing like that happens.”
The 2016 GOP presidential candidate added that her shooting death should never have happened.
“This is something that should have never taken place,” Trump explained. “He was sent out of the country many times. He was a violent person. We have many cases like this and nobody wants to talk about it.”
“It seems like I’m sort of the whipping post,” he stated. “I don’t understand whether you’re liberal, whether you’re conservative, whether you’re Republican, Democrat, why wouldn’t you talk about a problem. There is tremendous crime. Illegal immigration is just incredible.”
“You talk about terrorism, the terrorists are going to come in through the Southern border too,” he added. “It’s the easiest thing, you just walk right in … You would think that no matter where you are in terms of party affiliation you’d want to do something about this. The crime is raging … and it’s violent and people don’t even want to talk about it. If you talk about it, you’re a racist.”
Donald Trump, who has been under fire for controversial remarks describing some Mexican illegal immigrants as criminals
Donald Trump, who has been under fire for controversial remarks describing some Mexican illegal immigrants as criminals, said in a statement that the “senseless and totally preventable act of violence committed by an illegal immigrant is yet another example of why we must secure our border immediately.”
“His criminal history includes seven prior felony convictions, four involving narcotics charges,” ICE said in a statement.
ICE briefly had him in their custody in March after he had served his latest sentence for “felony re-entry,” but turned him over to San Francisco Sheriff’s Department on an outstanding drug warrant. At this time, ICE issued the detainer — effectively asking that he be turned back over to ICE when San Francisco was finished with him.
But ICE was not notified. The incident is sure to renew criticism of San Francisco’s sanctuary city policies.
“Here’s a jurisdiction that’s not even honoring our detainer for someone who clearly is an egregious offender,” an ICE official told FoxNews.com.
ICE has since lodged another immigration detainer against the individual, though it’s unclear whether San Francisco will cooperate.
An attorney for the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department told the Associated Press it had no authority to honor the prior immigration hold when it released the suspect.
Freya Horne said Friday that federal detention orders are not a “legal basis” to hold someone, so Francisco Sanchez was released April 15.
Police Sgt. Michael Andraychak earlier said witnesses snapped photos of Sanchez immediately after Wednesday’s shooting and the images helped police make the arrest.
Liz Sullivan told the San Francisco Chronicle that her 32-year-old daughter turned to her father after she was shot and said she didn’t feel well before collapsing.
“She just kept saying, ‘Dad, help me, help me,'” Sullivan said. Her father reportedly tried to do CPR before she was rushed to the hospital.
The immigration detainer issued against the suspect earlier this year would have initiated the process of removing him from the U.S. once again. The tragedy also surfaced late Friday in the 2016 presidential race. GOP candidate Donald Trump, who has been under fire for controversial remarks describing some Mexican illegal immigrants as criminals, said in a statement that the “senseless and totally preventable act of violence committed by an illegal immigrant is yet another example of why we must secure our border immediately.”
