Now they want to kill the elderly when they come to collect the money due them in their old age.

Agendized bureaucrats and their minions in the medical community do not possess an inherent right to hasten that journey because they view us as a drain on the financial coffers of the State, or because stupid men believe the populations of the nations are responsible for cyclic weather change and floods and droughts. And, by reducing the population of the United States we will somehow make the world a better place. The sole purpose for euthanizing the elderly is to reduce the drain on a bankrupt Social Security and Medicare system. The government of the United States not only stole the Social Security Trust Fund to finance the Progressive Democrats Welfare State, now they want to kill the elderly when they come to collect the money due them in their old age.

Bill Clinton was so concerned about AIDS that on Nov. 12, 1993 as Hillary’s Health Security Act was in its death throes, he suggested that a provision be added to the bill mandating a one-time screening for AIDS be done on all US citizens. Clinton also proposed having the CDC require every citizen with full-blown AIDS to be confined to AIDS sanatoriums until they were no longer contagious, or until they died. The sanatoriums were to be situated in sparsely-populated areas of the country. Upon admission, patients would be required to sign living wills with euthanasia previsions that could be triggered by proxy when their healthcare providers deemed them to be “terminal.” The AIDS provision Clinton wanted to add to Hillarycare does not appear to be in Obamacare. However, the same federal Health Board that will be charged with the responsibility of doing the cost analysis on the merits of keeping the elderly alive versus denying them lifesaving procedures will also be responsible for preparing a cost analysis on the value of keeping terminally-ill AIDS victims alive on the public dime.It’s interesting to note that the gay and lesbian population actively campaigned for Clinton in 1992 and 1996.  Just as- the elderly—the primary target of the Obamacare Health Board—actively campaigned, and voted, for Barack Obama in 2008.               , And try to convince the gay and lesbian community that, if Hillarycare hadn’t failed, most of them would be spending their final days in an isolated AIDS sanatorium somewhere in the Badlands. And the blue-haired seniors in Florida and Arizona may find that their next flare-up of irritable bowel syndrome, or their next broken hip, might land them in a terminal care unit of their local hospital where those who linger while dying go to die, instead of sitting around bragging about their latest hospital adventure at the assisted living center.

Obama_1_nose_in_the_air_cropped  Obamacare, which supersede all current health options (including those offered by private carriers) enacted into law, your signing a living will that requires all extraneous means be used to prolong your life will not save, or prolong, your life for one minute if the Health Board rules that you have exhausted your “healthcare options.” The Health Board will hold the power of life and death over healthcare recipients who are construed to have either terminal or catastrophic illnesses, or, if they are victims of expensive chronic illnesses that historically drain financial resources without healing the patient, the Board will have the right to deny procedures or surgery even though they may enhance the quality of life of the patient

The 15-member Obama Health Board was created under HR 1, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The board will gain its authority from HR 3200, The America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. The board, which the legislation purports to be an advisory panel created to perform cost analysis of all phases of the stimulus plan is, in reality, a panel of physicians and healthcare providers whose role it will be to determine at what point it is no longer cost productive to sanction the use of taxpayer dollars to save the life of a patient who requires a surgical procedure, medical procedure or lifesaving medications to correct a medical malady that threatens the life of an elderly patient or someone with a catastrophic illness.

The American people—thanks to Hillary Clinton—now have a more complex understanding of how, by design, universal healthcare puts into place the foundation of regulations that will allow government to control not only the lives of the people, but their mobility as well. Universal healthcare provides government with the platform that will surreptitiously allow them to, ever so slowly, steal the liberty of the People under the guise of taking care of them.

Like Obamacare, Hillarycare also contained provisions to ration healthcare to the elderly and also to catastrophically-ill people whom statistics said would drain the finite resources of the public healthcare system and bankrupt it if caps were not placed on catastrophic care.The specific language that deals with the rationing of healthcare to the elderly found in The America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 (which was drafted in part by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, brother of former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

In January 2008, then Senator Obama bluntly said, “Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

300-page “Manager’s Amendment to the 1,000-page Energy Tax bill” was at 3:00 in the morning. Not a single person had read the amendment when it was voted upon later that same evening.

So much for Obama’s vaunted transparency and his promise of “five days” for Americans to review each bill. Just as they did with the outrageous “Stimulus” package, Obama, Pelosi and the rest of the corruption-riddled Democrat Party jammed the most intrusive and un-Constitutional piece of legislation since the New Deal down the throats of the American taxpayer.

The climate bill’s passage was facilitated by a wild orgy that some called “an unrestrained exercise of raw political power, arm-twisting and intimidation.”

These tactics were necessary because if the American public had time to read and digest the bill, they would have marched on Washington with torches and pitchforks.

Consider some of the insane, Constitution-eradicating “features” of just the Waxman-Markey Energy Tax Manager’s Amendment, gleefully applauded by Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama upon its razor-thin passage.

• It creates massive new regulatory structures for all power generation and power transmission systems.

• It creates hundreds of new bureaucracies that benefit Obama’s contributors; for example, it creates a “Development Corporation for Renewable Power Borrowing Authority” that issues “Community Building Code Administration Grants” under a “Low Income Community Sustainable Development Capacity Grant Program”. This scam serves two purposes: it rewards failed housing programs like those run by Presidential Adviser Valerie Jarrett; it also provides yet another spigot of funds — in blocks of $1,000,000 — for groups like ACORN.

• It creates and regulates every building code in the country and will purposefully overrule any “city, county, parish, city and county authority, or city and parish authority having local authority to enforce building codes and regulations and to collect fees for building permits.”

• It reaches into every neighborhood by eradicating “any private covenant, contract provision, lease provision, homeowners’ association rule or bylaw, or similar restriction” to force localities to accept “green technologies” whether it fits in the neighorhood or not.

• It touches every aspect of water and sewer systems by regulating every “residential water efficient product or service”; ensuring those offerings are rated and forcing state government, local or county government, tribal government, wastewater or sewerage utility, municipal water authority, energy utility, water utility, or nonprofit organization to comply.

It creates revolving loan facilities for “Certified manufacturing clean energy facilities”, which provide $500 million blocks of taxpayer dough to promote green manufacturing. Of course, it does so using wages dictated by the Secretary of Labor under the Davis-Bacon Act, a New Deal-era payoff to the unions.

• It funds propaganda to ensure that generations of students are brainwashed to believe that carbon dioxide is a toxin. It directs the Secretary of Energy to issue grants to colleges and universities to “study consumer actions to conserve energy”, rate effectiveness of consumer education,** determine how best to regulate consumers, etc.

• It impacts civil aviation with new restrictions and regulations.

• It controls construction of all buildings, residential and non-residential alike, ensuring that every structure “complies with… energy efficiency requirements, standards, checklists or ratings systems…”

•** It mandates “Energy audits” to ensure that a “Green Gestapo” checks to ensure that homeowners and businesses aren’t bypassing regulations.

• Somehow, it also provides grants (welfare) for tenants in multi-family buildings.

• It defines “energy-efficient mortgages” (with our favorite GSEs, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, so what could possibly go wrong?) that** artificially boosts the income of the borrower based upon how much “green technology” is employed. In other words, the Democrats are socially engineering mortgage underwriting standards again, just as they did in the nineties, which will lead to yet another financial disaster.

• It also artificially raises maximum mortgage loan amounts based upon green improvements and can reduce down payment requirements.

• It will fund “tree planting organizations” (can’t you just smell the ACORN-scented fraud?), landscapers and others with taxpayer funds.

**• It creates new real estate appraisal processes, new training mandates for appraisers and, through an “Appraisal Subcommittee”, describes new standards for all real estate valuations based upon green considerations.**

• It creates an “Alternative Energy Sources State Loan Fund”, controlled by another presidential appointee (HUD), to loan money to states for alternative energy projects. Each state or Indian tribe is eligible to receive up to $500,000,000 of taxpayer dough.

• It creates “Green Banking Centers”, which mandates federal financial agencies and regulatory bodies to provide “green housing information” to anyone seeking a mortgage, a home improvement loan, a home equity loan, or similar products. A new, federal job role called “energy rater” will exist; and will be used to provide guidance and ensure compliance around energy efficiency.

• It will also require reporting by the GAO on “affordable mortgages”.

• It creates a “secondary market for residential renewable energy lease instruments” that will “encourage private investment in the green economy.” HUD will determine the residual value all “all renewable energy assets” in order to facilitate a secondary market.

• HUD will also “guarantee” the “green portion” of all mortgages issued under the guidelines, which will consist of as much as 10% of each mortgage.

• It empowers the Secretary of Agriculture to interfere with farming markets and processes to promote “green technologies”.

It defines trading systems of carbon offset credits, term offset credits, emission allowances, compensatory allowances, and similar “currencies” operated by new government-sponsored entities. These “carbon derivative markets” will support the taxation and monetization of all entities required to conform to the new rules.

• It affects every industry in America using “tonnage of production” measures; requiring each industry to calculate its “trade intensity” and “greenhouse gas intensity”. The administrators of the program will compare other countries emissions by industry (how those numbers are achieved aren’t spelled out) to U.S. industries in order to punish or reward companies on an industry basis.

• It will guide all treaty law with other countries, using measures such as “competitive imbalances that lead to carbon leakage” as trade levers.

• It will create — with the U.S. Customs Department — an “International Reserve Allowance Program” (IRAP) that will facilitate the trade, sale, purchase, exchange, transfer and banking of international reserve allowances. All material leaving and entering the country will engage with IRAP to ensure the equitable international balance of carbon leakage.

• It will create a “USDA Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction and Sequestration Advisory Committee” to oversee new regulation of farmlands.

• It will spend $150,000,000 on an “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Worker Training Fund”, which will involve the Secretaries of Education, Housing and Labor, and appears to be a funnel of money flowing directly to union bosses.

• It will spend millions on a “Green Construction Careers Demonstration Project”, a boondoggle of the first order and another payoff to union bosses.

• It modifies the Earned Income Credit portion of the tax code, providing massive new welfare payments to the poor; and which adjusts for inflation.

• It moves these billions in new expenses into programs that govern every aspect of human life including, but not limited to, farming; fertilizers; animal husbandry and animal diets; feedstock; soil; land use (forested, cleared, wetlands, etc); “manure management”; and creates gigantic new government bureaucracies (unionized, of course) to regulate, monitor and control American citizens.

This bill was jammed through Congress by Democrats, sight unseen, using threats, favors, pork and payoffs without a whit of analysis as to what any of it might mean for the American economy or the citizenry.

We know it is anti-job, anti-business, anti-taxpayer and anti-prosperity. The only question is: just how much damage will it do?

Congressional Socialists violate their Oath Of Office

Socialism’s endgame is Communism. Communism is the opposite of our Republican form of national government. Communism requires abandoning Constitutionally-guaranteed rights of individual citizens for the “common good” of collective society.

The Communist Manifesto demands the following: (1) end of private property ownership, (2) progressive and heavy taxation, (3) end of inheritance rights, (4) government confiscation of property of emigrants and rebels, (5) a national central bank, (6) government control of transportation and communication, (7) government ownership of factories and agriculture, (8) government control of labor, (9) corporate mega-farms to replace family farms, (10) regional planning, (11) government control of education.

If you think America is abandoning its Constitution and slouching into Socialism, consider yourself perceptive. According to the Democratic Socialists of America  and the Socialist elected officials members list on the Progressive Caucus. America now has 58 elected Congressional Representatives in the US House of Representatives who are members of the Democratic Socialists of America. They help create our national policies and laws.

Article 6 of our US Constitution says, in part, “. . . The Senators and Representatives before mentioned (in Article 6), and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution . . . “

Elected officials who support the goals of Socialism do not and can not support the US Constitution. Those are mutually exclusive philosophies of government.

Congressional Socialists violate their Oath Of Office, fraudulently continue serving in office, and are prime candidates for prosecution for treason.

Socialists in Congress tend to support legislation such as HR-701, the Conservation And Reinvestment Act (CARA) which would spend US Treasury funds to condemn and force buyout of rural citizens’ land and to relocate rural folks to giant hive cities where they can be more easily controlled and managed through dependency on government.

Congressional Socialists tend to support massive land-grabs such as The Wildlands Project designed to return 50% of the United States to pre-Columbian wilderness. Congressional Socialists tend to support massive tax increases, massive government spending, restrictive regulations, unlimited immigration, taxing workers to reward drone citizens, federal control of education, and supporting and expanding international control of America through the United Nations.

A vision of Hospice,10 beds or more to a room of seniors shipped in to die so Health Care costs are less?

Obama Just Doesn’t like Seniors

I have heard the president just does not like Seniors.( We know Hillary Clinton doesn’t) He thinks they are greedy, racists, and has no respect for them. (I thought we were the greatest generation) The seniors are the ones that worked and built this country thats being torn apart by a bunch of Radicals in the whitehouse. These people took the wealth earned by seniors and spent it.

The cost of living for seniors is way up.

Food – up,

co-pays-up,

energy-up,

home insurance – up,

phone service-up.

cloths up.

Stamps-up.

Taxi service – up

Obama is shuffling the paperwork but the bottom line speaks for itself. Seniors are losing wealth at the fastest pace in modern history.

“A lot of Seniors in Southern States like Georgia and Florida and all through the southeast and the southwest are dependent on air conditioning just to live. Politicians will be able to afford the rise in Electricity costs. But will a Grandmother in Florida living on Social Security and sitting in a 110 degree Apartment be able to.
Why if we are so worried about Pollution  government trying to bring in 12 million more low skilled poor workers to add to our problem. We send these Politicians to washington to protect us. AND THEY DON’T GIVE A DARN! Its always for something, or someone other than their own people. But it is just another scam by a tyranical Government. And a President that cares only about his own Ideology not our seniors.

Last week I got a letter from AARP saying that my plan would not change but new suscribers plan would. I remember it saying that aside what was no longer covered, these lucky subscribers would be getting HOSPICE coverage. Well I paid no attention until Yesterday when I went to a Florida Hospital someone I know had had a stroke two days before. He was being prepared to be shipped to a Hospice that evening.(An attendant said he felt he knew what was going on but could not communicate) He was being given Morphine several times a day. Yet he was not in pain. I wondered “why the morphine” There was no waiting to see if he would have any amount of recovery at all. How could there be when he was being given morphine. And now he was off to a Hospice.

And is a Government who can’t afford the Democrats health care bill( everyone of the democratic reps voted for it) going to do similar to us!I had this vision of Hospice 10 beds or more to a room of seniors shipped in to die so Health Care costs are less. Will this be whats coming with health care by Government.

“There is hardly any area of your life that the greens consider off limits to intrusion. There is almost no personal behavior of yours that they consider too trivial or sacrosanct to regulate.”
Green Hell clearly shows, “this is how the greens themselves describe their intentions. Their words alone reveal their true intent: to curtail, to ration, to force, to deny, to compel, and to squeeze.”
Green Hell also reveals the credibility of the threat — the tremendous funding, high level support, and tactics that have been able to steamroll natural resistance and drive the green agenda forward.
By creating shortages, the greens expect to “force through dramatic, mandatory conservation laws.” Water, as Milloy points out, is by far the most abundant substance on the planet. But if the greens have their way, water “will soon be in desperately short supply.”
As an example of the anti-water agenda, Milloy points to the Sierra Club which “has a laundry list of action times to achieve this, including a nationwide moratorium on withdrawals from, and diversions of, rivers that could affect fish and wildlife or scenic values; groundwater use restrictions; a ban on transfers between watersheds; and redirecting federal efforts away from designing new water development projects and toward maintenance of existing projects.”
Milloy informs us that the greens have also developed arguments to oppose importing water from Canada, which holds about 20 percent of the world’s fresh water supply, and to prohibit diversions of Great Lakes water by pipeline or ship. They even seek to block exporting bottled water from the Great Lakes.
Enormous resources and organization are required to develop the “research,” legal briefs, and arguments to sustain the green assault. We are reminded of the warnings of Admiral Chester Ward, who as a long-time invited member of the Establishment’s Council on Foreign Relations resigned in disgust and described in an exposé how the CFR developed pressure on Congress and overcame public opposition:”Once the ruling members of CFR have decided that the U.S. government should adopt a particular policy, the very substantial research facilities of CFR are put to work to develop arguments, intellectual and emotional, to support the new policy, and to confound and discredit, intellectually and politically, any opposition.”
Although bottled water is a massive industry, Milloy notes that green opposition is beginning to show some traction: “By September 2008, St. Louis and Seattle had passed their own bans on city purchases of bottled water, while Chicago now taxes the product.” Milloy summarizes:

“Although it’s indisputable that we need water from somewhere, the greens are agitating to ensure that there is water nowhere. These efforts reflect the greens’ negative view of humankind’s very presence on earth.”
What Else Can They Regulate? After regulating water, what else?
“Food,” “According to the greens, the food you choose to eat has dramatic ramifications for the environment — and therefore your diet is the rightful focus of public policy..current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle-class … involving high meat intake, consumption of large amounts of frozen and ‘convenience’ foods, ownership of motor vehicles, numerous electric household appliances, home and workplace air-conditioning … expansive suburban housing … are not sustainable.”
The Green War on Energy
A primary green objective is to create scarcities, which then provide the pretext for government regulation and rationing. And what better place to bring a modern industrial nation to its knees than to starve it of energyThe current tactic to achieve energy scarcity, promoted by the Obama administration, is to emphasize the development of “renewable” energy, while attaching burdensome strings to the construction of power plants and the development of resources that can realistically supply our immediate energy needs, such as oil from shale. Colorado, as Milloy points out, is the Saudia Arabia of shale oil. Yet this resource has for years been off limits to development.
Green Hell provides a much-needed dose of reality regarding promises that a modern society can be run anytime soon on the alternative sources being touted, and Milloy points out the enormous expense in trying.
Moreover, when push comes to shove, as Milloy shows, green leaders will oppose even their “renewable” sources where these sources look like they might offer serious help, since the real but not advertised objective is no energy. The renewable energy campaign is really just a campaign to create shortages (at immense expense) that government can ration.
Milloy hits the nail on the head: “When combined with the supposed crisis of global warming, energy shortages provide the greens with an urgent rationale for unprecedented government action.”
In fact, the greens support a massive assault on virtually every alternative to satisfying human wants (even targeting the water supply). The only solution acceptable to the greens is mandatory regulation of human existence to a primitive level. The greens seek to bring this regulation about by inducing crises and shortages that justify Big Brother stepping in to save the day.
Universal tolling
In order to reduce driving, the “greens are working toward a more radical solution: ditching the gas tax in favor of a per-mile driving fee” — or as Milloy wisely observes, green politicians would likely saddle us with both.
A related green proposal is for “universal tolling.” The greens have been very successful in obstructing the building of new highways, notably in California. “As it turns out,” Milloy explains, “the greens only support converting existing roads into toll roads…. In practice, they oppose building new toll roads, because they see them as just another place for you to use your car.”
Al Gore, and Barack Obama — don’t walk the walk. Indeed greens are noted for holding international conferences in plush, air-conditioned hotels where they develop plans to curtail the air conditioning for the rest of us. It is refreshing to find that Milloy recognizes the true character of the movement — a Marxist power grab — and that, among its top leaders, pretended concern for the environment merely serves as an effective rallying cry.
Reading these excerpts from Steve Milloys book Green Hell enraged me. He did not take Austria by tanks and guns; We elected him by a landslide – 98% of the vote

I am an eyewitness to history. I can tell you that Hitler did not take Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history. We elected him by a landslide – 98% of the vote. I’ve never read that in any American publications. Everyone thinks Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force.

In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25% inflation and 25% bank loan interest rates. Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn’t want to work; there simply weren’t any jobs. My mother was a Christian woman and believed in helping people in need. Every day we cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people – about 30 daily.

The Communist Party and the National Socialist Party were fighting each other. Blocks and blocks of cities like Vienna, Linz, and Graz were destroyed. The people became desperate and petitioned the government to let them decide what kind of government they wanted.

We looked to our neighbor on the north, Germany, where Hitler had been in power since 1933. We had been told that they didn’t have unemployment or crime, and they had a high standard of living. Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group – Jewish or otherwise. We were led to believe that everyone was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria . We were promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family. Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back. Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany.

We were overjoyed, and for three days we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades. The new government opened up big field kitchens and everyone was fed.

After the election, German officials were appointed, and like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was created through the Public Work Service.

Hitler decided we should have equal rights for women. Before this, it was a custom that married Austrian women did not work outside the home. An able-bodied husband would be looked down on if he couldn’t support his family.

Hitler Targets Education-Eliminates Religious Instruction for Children:

Our education was nationalized. I attended a very good public school. The population was predominantly Catholic, so we had religion in our schools. The day we elected Hitler (March 13, 1938), I walked into my schoolroom to find the crucifix replaced by Hitler’s picture hanging next to a Nazi flag. Our teacher, a very devout woman, stood up and told the class we wouldn’t pray or have religion anymore. Instead, we sang “Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles,” and had physical education.

Sunday became National Youth Day with compulsory attendance. Parents were not pleased about the sudden change in curriculum. They were told that if they did not send us, they would receive a stiff letter of warning the first time. The second time they would be fined the equivalent of $300, and the third time they would be subject to jail. The first two hours consisted of political indoctrination. The rest of the day we had sports. As time went along, we loved it. Oh, we had so much fun and got our sports equipment free. We would go home and gleefully tell our parents about the wonderful time we had.

My mother was very unhappy. When the next term started, she took me out of public school and put me in a convent. I told her she couldn’t do that and she told me that someday when I grew up, I would be grateful.There was a very good curriculum, but hardly any fun – no sports, and no political indoctrination. I hated it at first but felt I could tolerate it. Every once in a while, on holidays, I went home. I would go back to my old friends and ask what was going on and what they were doing. Their loose lifestyle was very alarming to me. They lived without religion. By that time unwed mothers were glorified for having a baby for Hitler. It seemed strange to me that our society changed so suddenly. As time went along, I realized what a great deed my mother did so that I wasn’t exposed to that kind of humanistic philosophy.

Equal Rights Hits Home

In 1939, the war started and a food bank was established. All food was rationed and could only be purchased using food stamps.

At the same time, a full-employment law was passed which meant if you didn’t work, you didn’t get a ration card, and if you didn’t have a card, you starved to death. Women who stayed home to raise their families didn’t have any marketable skills and often had to take jobs more suited for men.

Soon after this, the draft was implemented. It was compulsory for young people, male and female, to give one year to the labor corps. During the day, the girls worked on the farms, and at night they returned to their barracks for military training just like the boys. They were trained to be anti-aircraft gunners and participated in the signal corps. After the labor corps, they were not discharged but were used in the front lines. When I go back to Austria to visit my family and friends, most of these women are emotional cripples because they just were not equipped to handle the horrors of combat. Three months before I turned 18, I was severely injured in an air raid attack. I nearly had a leg amputated, so I was spared having to go into the labor corps and into military service.

Hitler Restructured the Family Through Daycare:

When the mothers had to go out into the work force, the government immediately established child care centers. You could take your children ages 4 weeks to school age and leave them there around-the-clock, 7 days a week, under the total care of the government. The state raised a whole generation of children. There were no motherly women to take care of the children, just people highly trained in child psychology. By this time, no one talked about equal rights. We knew we had been had.

Health Care and Small Business choked by Government Controls:

Before Hitler, we had very good medical care. Many American doctors trained at the University of Vienna …

After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone. Doctors were salaried by the government. The problem was, since it was free, the people were going to the doctors for everything. When the good doctor arrived at his office at 8 a.m., 40 people were already waiting and, at the same time, the hospitals were full. If you needed elective surgery, you had to wait a year or two for your turn. There was no money for research as it was poured into socialized medicine. Research at the medical schools literally stopped, so the best doctors left Austria and emigrated to other countries.

As for healthcare, our tax rates went up to 80% of our income. Newlyweds immediately received a $1,000 loan from the government to establish a household. We had big programs for families. All day care and education were free. High schools were taken over by the government and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing, and housing.

We had another agency designed to monitor business. My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square tables. Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because people might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom facilities. It was just a small dairy business with a snack bar. He couldn’t meet all the demands. Soon, he went out of business. If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control.

We had consumer protection. We were told how to shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the live-stock, and then tell the farmers what to produce, and how to produce it.

“Mercy Killing” Redefined:

In 1944, I was a student teacher in a small village in the Alps . The villagers were surrounded by mountain passes which, in the winter, were closed off with snow, causing people to be isolated. So people intermarried and offspring were sometimes retarded. When I arrived, I was told there were 15 mentally retarded adults, but they were all useful and did good manual work. I knew one, named Vincent, very well. He was a janitor of the school. One day I looked out the window and saw Vincent and others getting into a van. I asked my superior where they were going. She said to an institution where the State Health Department would teach them a trade, and to read and write. The families were required to sign papers with a little clause that they could not visit for 6 months. They were told visits would interfere with the program and might cause homesickness.

As time passed, letters started to dribble back saying these people died a natural, merciful death. The villagers were not fooled. We suspected what was happening. Those people left in excellent physical health and all died within 6 months. We called this euthanasia.

The Final Steps – Gun Laws:

Next came gun registration. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long after-wards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily.

No more freedom of speech. Anyone who said something against the government was taken away.

We knew many people who were arrested, not only Jews, but also priests and ministers who spoke up.

Totalitarianism didn’t come quickly; it took 5 years from 1938 until 1943, to realize full dictatorship in Austria. Had it happened overnight, my countrymen would have fought to the last breath. Instead, we had creeping gradualism. Now, our only weapons were broom handles. The whole idea sounds almost unbelievable that the state, little by little eroded our freedom.

After World War II, Russian troops occupied Austria. Women were raped, preteen to elderly. The press never wrote about this either. When the Soviets left in 1955, they took everything that they could, dismantling whole factories in the process. They sawed down whole orchards of fruit, and what they couldn’t destroy, they burned. We called it “The Burned Earth.” Most of the population barricaded themselves in their houses. Women hid in their cellars for 6 weeks as the troops mobilized. Those who couldn’t; paid the price. There is a monument in Vienna today, dedicated to those women who were massacred by the Russians. This is an eye witness account.

It’s true. Those of us who sailed past the Statue of Liberty came to a country of unbelievable freedom and opportunity. America Truly is the greatest country in the world. Don’t let freedom slip away.
